Fit for a King is the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center’s annual tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Each year, LaFHAC staff organizes a series of events to engage the community around fair housing, celebrate the Civil Rights Movement, and inspire change.
Join us virtually this year as we hear from housing justice advocates and community leaders about the connections between housing discrimination, segregation, NIMBYism, the criminal legal system, LGBTQ+ oppression, COVID-19, and the eviction crisis, as well as how communities are fighting back. The summit will feature panels, a keynote address by Sheryll Cashin (sheryllcashin.com) and concrete ways you take action to advance housing justice in 2022. Fit for a King will take place on January 28th from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm CT on Zoom. The summit is free, but you must register to attend. Captioning and ASL interpretation will be provided throughout the summit. If you would like to attend and need an accommodation or interpretation into an additional language, please include that information when you register. We will do our best to honor all requests for accommodations and interpretation, but we can only guarantee accommodation requests made before January 21st. If you have questions about accommodations, interpretation or how to use Zoom, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
